What is an ADM?

National ADM available here

So, I drive to Malaga a week ago, and take out some money from a machine which looked strangely similar to an ATM (Automatic Teller Machine), however as you can see in the sign above, this was an ADM.

I return to the office and proudly display the photo to fellow wrongwrite fans. Someone suggests it could be D for Deposit, but a quick search on the bank’s own website finds that this branch specifically mentions No Deposits.

So, I naturally do what others would do, and call their customer care line.

Call Centre: Thank you for calling NAB, how may I help you?

Me: Hi, I’m just enquiring about your new services, ADM.

Call Centre: Yes sir, right, do you mean ATM?

Me: No, no - I am quite specifically interested in your ADM service.

Call Centre: Where did you see this service advertised, sir?

Me: Well, on three signs outside your Malaga branch, strangely enough near the ATM.

Call Centre: OK sir, well maybe you read it incorrectly?

Me: Well no, as it happens I took a photograph of the offending sign. Would you like me to send it to you?

Call Centre: No thank you sir *chuckle* I will check with my supervisor.

(a minute or so of on hold music)

Call Centre: Hello, thank you for waiting sir, unfortunately, I spoke to my supervisor, and others here at the Call Centre, searched our Intranet and tried contacting the branch, but they did not answer.

Me: Well, what do you personally make of it?

Call Centre: Well sir, there is a chance it could be a mistake on the sign, is that what you think sir?

Me: Well, I’m not sure, it somehow doesn’t seem right that nobody until now would mention it.

Call Centre: You’re quite upset about this sir, aren’t you *chuckle*?

Me: Well, yes, I know it’s a Friday afternoon and all, but this is not a prank.

Call Centre: No, certainly, it is interesting. I have left a message for that branch to call me Monday and explain. You can call back Monday if you would like, and ask for me?

Me: Thank you, yes, maybe I’ll try that too. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Call Centre: No problem sir, it certainly is a puzzle to solve.

Needless to say, the mystery is still that. What is an ADM? Suggestions folks?

Ha ha - lots of chuckling going on; I tried to take a shot of a typo sign today (well actually it’s upside down); but my #@(&#!@!@ i-mate is so slow it didn’t take the pic till 3 seconds after I drove past the sign, so going in for round #2 tomorrow with the 400D and will send in!
